Welcoming a new puppy into your family is an exciting time, and introducing them to grooming early is one of the greatest gifts you can give them. The Puppy Blossom Programme has been carefully designed to help puppies build confidence and develop positive associations with grooming in a calm, gentle and enjoyable environment. Rather than focusing on achieving the perfect haircut, these early visits are all about helping your puppy feel safe, relaxed and happy with every stage of the grooming process. By introducing new sights, sounds and experiences gradually, we can help lay the foundations for a lifetime of stress-free grooming. At Denise's Grooming Lodge, every puppy is treated as an individual. There is no rushing, no pressure and no expectation to do everything at once. Each session is tailored to your puppy's confidence and completed entirely at their pace. After all, today's tiny puppy will one day become a fully grown dog, and investing in positive grooming experiences now can make every future appointment easier for both your dog and their groomer. 🐶 When should my puppy start? The Puppy Blossom Programme is suitable for puppies from around 12 weeks of age, once they have received their vaccinations and your vet has advised it's safe for them to socialise. Many owners wait until their puppy "needs a haircut", but by then they may already have missed the ideal opportunity to introduce grooming in a positive, relaxed way. Even puppies that won't need regular clipping, such as Labradors, Beagles or French Bulldogs, benefit enormously from learning to enjoy bathing, drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning and being gently handled. The earlier we build confidence, the more relaxed your puppy is likely to be throughout their life. The programme consists of five carefully planned one-to-one sessions, usually completed every 2–3 weeks, allowing your puppy to gradually build confidence while learning that grooming is a positive experience. Most importantly, it gives your puppy the very best start to a lifetime of happy grooming.
